Why do teams look for Prisma Cloud alternatives?

The trigger is usually the change itself. Palo Alto Networks merged Prisma Cloud with Cortex CDR to form Cortex Cloud, announced on 13 February 2025, and moved Prisma Cloud customers onto Cortex Cloud. A forced product change is a natural point to re-run an evaluation. Cortex Cloud remains strong on runtime (4.6) and code security (4.5), but the pages we reviewed lead with a runtime agent, and agentless-first platforms score higher on coverage and prioritization.

Stay with Cortex Cloud if your SOC runs Palo Alto Networks Cortex and you want cloud detections in the same workflow. It scores 4.6 on runtime and 4.5 on code security, both above most alternatives, and Palo Alto Networks includes CNAPP at no additional cost for Cortex Cloud Runtime Security customers.

Is Prisma Cloud being discontinued?

Palo Alto Networks announced in February 2025 that Prisma Cloud was merged with Cortex CDR to form Cortex Cloud and that Prisma Cloud customers would upgrade to Cortex Cloud. We did not find an end-of-life date on the pages we reviewed; ask Palo Alto Networks for your contract's terms.
